Inquiry re poor performance. Rider said after beginning well he rode his mount along in an endeavour to obtain its customary leading position, but when runners drawn to his outside showed superior pace, he had to take a trailing position near the 1000m. He added that shortly after obtaining this position, the mare failed to travel strongly on the bit and was under pressure, proving disappointing. He added that, in his opinion, given its established racing pattern, in his opinion, it was not suited when unable to lead tonight.
