Apprentice Williams stated that the instructions were to lead, however the trainer did comment that the horse was inclined to race keenly and possibly hang. Apprentice Williams reported that after obtaining the lead she attempted to restrain the gelding, however was unable to and as a result her mount raced several lengths in front of the rest of the field and did not finish the race off strongly. Stewards accepted the explanation. |

He stated that the horse was slow to begin at its most recent start, adding that if the race had been longer the horse would have fought out the finish. He indicated that the gelding has been a late maturer and was suited to today's step up in distance to 1600m. He added that at its first start from a spell over 1000m the horse was not suited to that distance and did not race well on the rain affected track conditions. |

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance, apprentice L. Attard stated that the intention was to ride the horse in a mid to forward position, however after beginning only fairly, was obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated and when the pace slackened in the middle stages the horse commenced to overrace for the majority of the event, which was a telling factor on the horse's finishing performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings and a swab sample was taken. |
