Brocson  The declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow stewards to consider an application by trainer M. Lakey that BROCSON be declared a non-runner due to that horse's barrier gates not opening at the same time as the rest of the field's gates had opened. After viewing the patrol footage, stewards were of the opinion that as the horse's barrier gates had only been marginally slow to open and that this had not materially affected the horse's chances, it would be declared a runner.  Gatton  12/02/2016

Secret Tryst  Slow to begin. Near the 800m was bumped heavily by PURPLE EMPEROR and became unbalanced for a short distance. Held up in the early stages of the home straight and was obliged to shift to the outside of the field to obtain clear running.

Afton Prince  Jockey M. Cahill reported that his mount raced very greenly in the early stages and was reluctant to stretch out and from the 600m hung out badly across the heels of other runners and shifted towards the middle of the track. Prospecting  Near the 800m commenced to hang out and had to be steadied when awkwardly placed at the heels of FORDYCE KNIGHT and continued to hang out for the remainder, proving difficult to ride. Claire Delores  Had to be steadied after leaving the 1000m to avoid heels of JADED, which was taken in by QUEEN OF THE ARK. J. Oliver, rider of QUEEN OF THE ARK, was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground.   Gatton  17/12/2015 
Destined for War  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have a slower than normal recovery rate. Trainer reported horse pulled up well and an an endoscopic examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Only tangible explanation was that it may have resented being restrained once it found the lead as had performace poorly in the past when ridden in a similar fashion. Will instruct rider to allow horse to travel along in lead without being restrained next start. If again performs poorly will reaccess current campagin.  Gold Coast  20/02/2016

Lucinate  Slow to begin and checked when tightened between runners shortly
after. When questioned regarding the performance of the mare jockey G. Colless
stated after receiving heavy interference at the start of the event his mount failed
to travel strongly at any stage of the event.

Real Eyes  Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rider questioned regarding tactics in the early stages whereby after being slow to begin he rode his mount vigorously around the field and ultimately raced in a wide position throughout the event when there appeared to be an opportunity to obtain a position closer to the rails in a more rearward position. Suite Mover  Shifted in away from heels near the 700m and became unbalanced and lost ground. Had to be checked passing the 900m when severely checked when tightened for room. At a subsequent inquiry it was established that HIGH COST shifted in and away from REDSSON, resulting in FALCHION being taken in slightly across the rightful running of SUITE MOVER. Stewards could not attribute this incident to the carelessness of any one rider and no further action was taken. Nee de Papa  When provided opportunity to comment on performance rider explained he settled outside of the leader FAR DOOLEY soon after start and was then bumped on a few occasions when JACK BE QUICK improved to his outside, which he felt NEE DE PAPA resented. He added approaching the 500m he allowed JACK BE QUICK to cross his mount and he was immediately under pressure and the colt did not respond to his riding in the home straight.
