Connections advised that it would be the intention to have the horse ridden more forward than it has at previous starts. After beginning awkwardly the horse settled in a midfield position. Held up from approaching the 400m until passing the 300m and then shifted out abruptly, forcing a run between STUNNING SHOW and POWER BIRD, which was forced wider on the track.

When asked to explain the horse's disappointing performance, jockey J. Lloyd sated that the gelding raced greenly throughout and was inclined to change legs repeatedly in the home straight. He added that nevertheless the gelding still proved disappointing and will take benefit from today's racing experience. Trainer D. Questioned tactics adopted - stated after gelding commenced to overrace approaching 1500m forced to shift out racing wide rounding first turn then continued to overrace fiercely and reluctant to settle when restrained. Stated mindful of instructions not to be in a leading position and attempted to restrain to obtain position with cover however when runners to inside improved to inside unable to obtain cover and remained 3 wide.
