When questioned jockey J. Byrne explained that his intention was to try and settle the filly midfield and obtain cover if possible. He explained from the jump and wide draw he was unable to fulfil the instructions and it became evident to him in the early stages that the filly was reluctant to relax and pulled very hard and despite his efforts overraced badly and hung out from the 900m until straightening. when questioned regarding below market performance rider J Hoopert stated the gelding travelled well in the lead to the 600 metres, however when placed under pressure at that point failed to respond to his riding and was disappointing. Trainer B Robinson was of the opinion RED RAGGA had come to the end of its preparation and it was his intention to immediately spell the gelding. A post-race Vet examination revealed no significant abnormalities other than a slower than normal recovery rate.
