Jockey R McMahon reported that the gelding put in a number of awkward strides in the home straight and as a result he did not ride the horse out over the final 150m due to being concerned with its action. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer M Wilson indicated that he would step the gelding up in distance at its next start and experiment with the addition of blinkers.

When asked to explain the overall performance of the horse, jockey B. Stewart stated that, in his view, the gelding seemed to resent racing inside horses and as a result settled further back in the field than anticipated. He added that when placed under pressure soon after straightening the gelding proved disappointing in its finishing effort.
