When quest re perf. rdr stated he couldn't improve between 600m & 400m when held up on heels however mount found little when afforded clear running rounding h/turn. P/R vet exam found no ab's. Tnr stated that whilst geld had trialled well leading into event he may have been too ambitious placing it over 1300m first up. Tnr added he would drop geld back in distance next start.

When quest re perf. rdr stated mount travelled comfortably in early & middle stages however passing 600m was under full pressure & was not able to keep up with the field. L. Rolls stated he did not place mount under pressure in straight & it weakened quickly. Rdr stated mount simply did not want to compete. P/R vet exam found no ab's outside mare lost off fore plate. To trial PTNS. Tnr advised mare would be retired.

When quest re improved perf. tnr advised that last start the geld began awkwardly & settled three wide without cover worse than m/field. Tnr added geld hung out rounding h/turn & its rider did not place it under pressure down straight as he felt something was amiss. Tnr advised a vet exam of geld after that event revealed its heart rate to be low indicating minimal exertion. Tnr stated geld was able to lead on the fence and dictate terms today which it appreciates.

A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R. Heathcote indicated he would experiment with the addition of a tongue-tie prior to the event.
