When asked to comment on the performance of the gelding, jockey J. Byrne stated his instructions were to obtain a trailing position in order to give his mount a chance to finish the race off. He added that after settling in that position and asked to quicken rounding the home turn, the gelding failed to respond to his riding and, in his opinion, failed to handle the heavy track conditions.

When quest re improved perf. tnr advised that last start the geld began awkwardly & settled three wide without cover worse than m/field. Tnr added geld hung out rounding h/turn & its rider did not place it under pressure down straight as he felt something was amiss. Tnr advised a vet exam of geld after that event revealed its heart rate to be low indicating minimal exertion. Tnr stated geld was able to lead on the fence and dictate terms today which it appreciates.
