Stewards questioned Trainer M. Eggleston in relation to the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding. Mr. Eggleston agreed that the performance was disappointing, and advised that on the Thursday prior to tonights event, the gelding worked exceptionally well in fast time. He added that, in retrospect, this gallop may have taken the edge off the horse tonight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.

Raced wide throughout. Weakened in the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed that a boil on the nearside of the horse’s mouth had burst. Trainer J. Chan will be advised that the veterinary surgeon recommends that the horse undergo treatment for the condition and that a veterinary clearance will be required prior to the horse racing again.
