After being fractious in the mounting yard and contacting a fence underwent a pre-race veterinary inspection at the barriers and was passed fit to start. After beginning on terms with the field was unable to muster the speed required to maintain contact with the field and assumed a trailing position. Raced ungenerously from the 600m. Finished off fairly. Jockey M Gray advised that, in his opinion, the mare was reluctant to stretch out and may have resented the sandy going this being its first start at the track. Reared and dislodged Jockey J Rudd in the mounting yard prior and made contact with a gate. The mare underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching on vet’s advice. Trainer C Austin was advised that the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to it’s next future race start. A warning was also placed on the mare for its pre-race manners.
