Artie's Son  When questioned regarding the gelding racing in the lead today, rider stated that she did not have specific instructions other than to be positive in the early stages and after beginning well and due to a lack of early speed in the race she found herself in front. Rider was fined $200 under AR137(b) for failing to ride the gelding right out to the line at least hands and heels. In assessing penalty Stewards did not believe that her actions had a bearing on the final placings.

Steinberg  On returning to the mounting yard jockey reported the gelding felt sore. A post - race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off fore fetlock. Trainer was advised that he will be required to produce a veterinarian certificate of fitness for the gelding prior to its next start.
