Near the 950m shifted out, commenced to race ungenerously and made contact with another runner, which also raced ungenerously for a short distance. Laid in over the final 100m. Jockey pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that over the concluding stages she permitted the gelding to shift in and that she used insufficient effort to prevent it from doing so, when not sufficiently clear another runner, which was tightened for room and had to be checked after passing the winning post. Jockey was suspended from riding in races.

When asked to explain the below market expectation performance of the mare rider and trainer were at loss for an explanation other than that the mare was first up from a lengthy spell and may have been in need of the run. Trainer further undertook to advise stewards should anything come to her attention in the near future that may have had a bearing on today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
