When qst re poor performance, rdr std instructed to lead & after beginning awkwardly mnt shifted in & bumped. Std mnt then raced keenly in early stages & bearing in mind genuine tempo of race in early stages, she would have to make too much of mnt to continue forward to obtain the lead. Std mnt obtained position outside leader near 700m, but when under pressure rounding h/turn & early part of straight it did not respond to riding & weakened over final 100m. A post-race vet exam rev no abs. Co-tnr std when gelding missed start & commenced to overrace this was main reason for poor performance.

App. M Potgieter stated that his instructions were to commence a forward move on the horse in the middle stages, which he attempted to do, but was subsequently caught wide for the remainder of the event, due to the tempo of the race increasing at the same time.
