Ithakos  The start was delayed initially when the gelding fell over prior to leaving the enclosure and required farrier attention. The gelding was examined by the Club's veterinary surgeon and cleared to take its place in the field. Near the 150 metres misstrode and blundered. When questioned, Jockey B. Stewart was of the opinion that the gelding may have attempted to change stride at this point. An immediate post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the trainer in relation to the horse's condition.

I Exceed  With regard to the improved performance, Trainer C Dore reported that the gelding's previous start was first up over a shorter distance and from a wide barrier. While it's training and feeding regime had not altered, Mrs Dore was of the opinion that the step up to 1300m and able to ridden with cover contributed to the improved performance.   Rockhampton  18/03/2016
