Rider reported that his mount failed to respond to his riding when placed under pressure from the vicinity of the 600m and ran to the line in a disappointing manner. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

When questioned regarding the performance, rider reported that the colt failed to travel throughout the early and middle stages and lost contact with the main body of the field near the 700m and weakened noticeably in the straight. A post race vet exam of the colt that was beaten 20L failed to reveal any abs. Trainer advised would be gelded before being sent for a spell. Nonetheless was advised would be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to being permitted to racing again.

He added on the home turn he was expecting to weaken and finish at the rear of the field, however the gelding continued to hold its position to the finish. When questioned re his riding from the 600m, rider C. Whiteley stated that IMAY SHOUT failed to improve into the race from the 600m and was not travelling as well has he had expected. He added the firm surface along with the removal of the blinkers may have attributed. Rider was advised to ensure he fully test his mount when reasonable. Vetted no abnormalities.

Jockey reported that passing the 1400m the gelding went down behind losing ground. Jockey McIver advised that although he was positioned to the inside of another runner at this point he had clear running and was at a loss to provide an explanation for the incident. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to the gelding again being permitted to start in a race.
