Chambers stated that she was under no instructions today, but after jumping well was able to take up a more forward position and in her opinion the horse was better suited than racing further back in the field as it has in its previous starts. Trainer Mr J. Lewis confirmed that even though he offered no instructions, he was surprised to see the gelding race in a forward position, but given the results, would look to having the horse race in a similar pattern for the remainder of its preparation.

When questioned by Stewards in relation to the gelding’s seemingly disappointing performance, jockey Beau Appo advised that his mount had failed to show its customary speed today, and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the race. He added that, in his opinion, the gelding may not have handled the firm track conditions today, and when placed under pressure it failed to respond to his riding and proved very disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

Questioned regarding the horse leading, jockey stated that she was instructed to take up a position worse than midfield, but after beginning well her mount found itself in a more forward position and rather than restraining the filly she elected to take up a position in the lead. When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer’s rep stated that he was surprised to see the filly leading in today’s event but nonetheless would look to continue that racing pattern. Adding it was the filly’s first start for the stable but had pleased in its work and wasn't surprised with the result.

Stewart, rider of GREY MISSILE, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that he allowed his mount to shift in closer to the rail approaching the 900m when insufficiently clear of the ALL EEZ, which resulted in apprentice S. Thornton having to take hold of ALL EEZ and relinquish her position and lose ground at that point. Jockey B. Stewart was suspended from riding in races for period of 9 days, days, to commence at midnight, 27 January, and to expire at midnight, 5 February. Raced 3 wide without cover throughout.
