Rider questioned re tactics rounding home turn where he shifted wider on the track, allowing 2 runners to improve to his inside. He said having watched the previous races he believed the better going was 5 or 6 wide in the straight so he shifted wider rounding the home turn to obtain that position. Stewards noted his explanation, but advised him it would have been more advantageous to hold a position closer to the rail and then on straightening shift wider on the track to that part of the track which he believed to be superior going. |

Paterson stated that the filly was having its first start on a dirt track and failed to handle the surface today. Stewards accepted the explanation and took no further action. |
