Watched  Held up from the 500m until straightening. When questioned, J. Byrne explained that from the 800m the filly was inclined to hang out and for this reason he was reluctant to avail himself of a run to the inside of DEEP DOWN, which was shifting ground in the conditions, and for this reason he elected to remain racing behind that horse until straightening where he was able to shift to the outside of DEEP DOWN and place his mount under full pressure.  Doomben  22/04/2015

More Energy  Began awkwardly. When questioned, G Buckley (More Energy) explained that in his opinion the colt did not concentrate and was disappointing in its failure to run on in the straight. Colour Charge  Questioned re: performance - Rider stated gelding settled in rearward position but became concerned in early stages horse wasn't travelling comfortably. From the 900m horse was inclined to lay in and despite his efforts would not respond. He added that despite his efforts the gelding failed to respond to his riding in the straight and was most disappointing. Trainer indicated horse had previously performed poorly at Doomben and may be better suited on bigger tracks. Post race vet - no abnormalities.  Doomben  22/04/2015

Katie's Cove  Questioned re performance - rider intention to settle towards rear. Tried to position mare off the fence in early stages in better going but was unable to do so due to another runner being position to her outside. Failed to improve into the race from the 600m and was most dissapointing. Trainer stated mare had trialled 3 times leading into race, which in his opinion were only fair. Had been hopefull of a good performance based on form but not overly confident based on work and trials. Provided mare pulled up well would look to step it up in distance. Punters Journey  Inquiry re poor performance. Rider said the horse travelled comfortably throughout, but once placed under pressure leaving the 500m failed to run on as expected and proved disappointing. Trainer A. Williamson said he felt class rise and allotted weight in today's event were telling factors, and further that it may not have appreciated not being able to lead dictate on its own terms. The explanation was noted. Vetted with no abnormalities reported.
