When questioned regarding his riding of the horse, jockey B. Stewart stated he had the intention of leading or racing outside the leader, however when the gelding began only fairly he elected to settle his mount in a position close to the rail midfield as he was reluctant to push forward as it has a tendency to overrace. He further added that he attempted to improve his position leaving the 800m, however the gelding only responded fairly and he was disappointed in its efforts in finishing off the race. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
