Marshall Stromberg When questioned regarding the riding tactics adopted , apprentice T. Brooker indicated that no firm instructions had been given other than to have the horse travel comfortably. Trainer T. Thomas confirmed the instructions. He advised the rider not to commit to cover too early as the horse overraced at its most recent start and that he did not wish for the horse to overrace again. Apprentice Brooker indicated that when caught wide in the early stages she allowed the horse to stride forward to the lead. The explanation was noted. Sunshine Coast 02/10/2016

Mono Lad Overraced in the early and middle stages, raced ungenerously with its head in the air for some distance passing the 1100m Sunshine Coast 22/05/2016
D'harmony Near the 1150m steadied when tightened for room. Rider reported in his opinion the gelding did not handle the track conditions today and was very disappointing. Vetted - no abnormalities. Swab sample was taken. Eagle Farm 03/10/2016

Baby Merlin After becoming restless in the barriers lunged forward prior to the start and made contact with the front gate. Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, making contact with another runner. Shifted out after leaving the 800m and had to be steadied from heels. Doomben 12/10/2016

Golden Sunset Raced wide throughout. Trainer P. Duff reported to stewards following the event that the filly had pulled up shin sore. Mr Duff was advised that should the filly start within 6 weeks he would have to provide a veterinary clearance for the horse. Ipswich 13/05/2016

Fusina Forced wider after passing the 700m. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted, particularly after passing the 800m, jockey J. Byrne stated that when the tempo eased at the 1000m he elected to improve his position passing the 800m, however GO ON RED, which was being steadied, shifted out near the 700m, forcing him wider on the track. Azarenka A. Taylor was dislodged during the preliminary, taking a seemingly harmless fall. The horse was quickly recaptured, the rider remounted and the horse took its place in the field. Raced four wide without cover. Sunshine Coast 09/10/2016
Lakoudis R. McMahon reported that his mount raced greenly throughout and was under pressure to hold its position in the early and middle stages and he indicated that the horse would appreciate a step up in distance. Stewards questioned jockey McMahon regarding his riding over the concluding stages. He accepted that he had failed to ride his mount out to the conclusion of the race. Stewards were of the view that his actions had no material effect on the horse’s placing, however reminded him of his obligations under the rules. Sunshine Coast 04/09/2016

Drumbeat's Choice Slow to begin. Had to be steadied away from heels near the 700m. Doomben 28/05/2016
French Song Jumped away awkwardly and overraced in the early stages and hung out in the middle stages. Apprentice jockey L. Tarrant accidentally dropped his whip near 100m. Trainer L. Ross was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its racing manners. Doomben 12/10/2016
Pound the Pavement Bumped near the 250m. Gold Coast 08/10/2016
Quelle Liaison Jockey D Griffin reported that his saddle slipped backwards upon jumping away. Near the 400m eased to avoid the heels of STAR STILETTO which shifted out to improve. Gold Coast 01/10/2016

Race 8
Aldesaar Change of tactics to be ridden more forward; settled outside the leader. When questioned, rider R Hutchings stated his mount travelled well outside the leader and approaching the home turn, he still remained confident about the gelding's chances. He said soon after, when placed under pressure, Aldesaar compounded quickly and whilst he was aware the horse is not suited by the track conditions, he thought Aldesaar weakened in a manner that was indicated there may have been something amiss.
