Rakitno Connections advised that as the horse has not been finishing its races off well when ridden forward, from the wide barrier today it will be the intention to have the horse ridden back in the field. The horse was ridden accordingly. M. Cahill indicated that after travelling well in the early and middle stages the horse failed to respond to his riding from the 500m and proved very disappointing. Kermandie Star Stood flat-footed, began awkwardly and lost ground. When offered an opportunity to comment on the performance, Jockey S Doyle stated that the mare raced flat today and may not have appreciated today’s firm track conditions as it is his belief that the mare performs best on softer track conditions. Vaulting Ambition Bumped on jumping. Raced wide without cover. L. Cassidy explained that he had a wide run throughout the event and when he asked the gelding for an effort in the home straight it did not pick up as expected and in his opinion may not have handled today’s going. Dumfries Raced wide in the early stages and then was allowed to stride forward to take up a position outside the leader near the 1400m. Ipswich 17/02/2017
Nero D'avola Had to be steadied approaching the 400m when placed in restricted room to the inside of PIPPOS, which shifted in. Had to be checked near the 1500m when tightened for room between PIPPOS, which shifted out, and DOVANA, which shifted in and away from DAVOR. Shifted out under pressure approaching the 100m and bumped PIPPOS, and over the concluding stages had some difficulty obtaining clear running. When asked to comment on the horse's performance, jockey L. Cassidy stated that after being checked in the early stages the gelding failed to travel comfortably throughout. Unchartered Shifted out to improve approaching the 400m and in doing so bumped ONE MANSINI. Had some difficulty securing clear running passing the 300m. The veterinary surgeon reported that the horse was suffering heat stress post-race. Sunshine Coast 19/02/2017
Gypsy Wild - Inclined to overrace approaching the 1000m. Overraced and hung out rounding the turn at the 1000m. Overraced from this point to the 600m. Hung out passing the 400m. Unable to be tested over the final 200m when continually disappointed for a run Ballina 17/02/2017

Mark My Word Blundered at start. Questioned re tactics. Rider stated instructions were to take up a forward position. After travelling a short distance after start it was evident to him he would be unable to obtain a position with cover. Therefore when racing wide he elected to stride forward to comply with instructions. When striding forward he was of view runners to his inside were looking to improve and he made decision to improve quickly to obtain outright lead. Gold Coast 18/02/2017
Madluce Missile Stood flat-footed at the start and lost ground. Jockey D Griffin reported at scale that he had recommended to connections to remove the blinkers as he was of the view that this may be the reason why the gelding has been beginning poorly in its races. The veterinary surgeon reported post-race that the gelding was suffering from a mild case of heat stress. Gold Coast 18/02/2017
