Hancock When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, J. Byrne indicated that when he attempted to restrain in the back straight on a number of occasions the horse became awkward in its action and laid out and appeared to resent being restrained. He said that the horse weakened in the home straight and was disappointing. He added that the horse also laid in under pressure in the home straight and he was obliged to stop riding and straighten on a number of occasions when tiring. Sunshine Coast 04/06/2017

Nashville Skyline Lost ground at start after being bumped by EXCEED ALL ODDS. Unable to improve between 700m and 500m. Rider questioned re performance - reported after being hampered at start obliged to race further back in the field than anticipated. Added after securing clear running rounding the home turn filly finished race off fairly and in his opinion would be better suited when racing over further distances. Gold Coast 17/05/2017

Downloading Raced with its head in the air when being restrained in the early stages. When asked to comment on the horse’s performance, J. Byrne indicated that at no stage did the horse travel comfortably, racing with its head in the air in the early stages and near the 850m, when following MOGUL, that horse shifted in and made contact with the running rail. He felt that this caused his mount to shy and lose ground and become very awkward in its action. He indicated that from that point onwards the horse did not respond to his riding and was very disappointing in the run to the line. Sunshine Coast 04/06/2017
Essaka The start of the race was delayed when the horse became fractious in the barriers. After undergoing an veterinary examination mare was cleared to start. Was buffeted between runners near the 400m and as a result lost ground. Jockey D. Browne, rider of VALFIERNO, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that he allow his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of runners to his inside, that being ESSAKA, tightening the running of that horse and taking it in on to AMERICAN HERO, causing the riders of both ESSAKA and AMERICAN HERO to have to take hold and check their mounts approa Sunshine Coast 24/09/2017

Bogey Man Jumped away awkwardly, made heavy contact with another runner and lost significant ground. Rider reported that despite aggressive riding in the early stages the horse was reluctant to stretch out. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Toni May Slow to begin. After being placed in restricted room approaching the 500m was steadied and laid in under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Byrne advised that his mount travelled well until asked for a response leaving the 600m and he felt the horse was disappointing from that point onwards when uncomfortable racing between runners and laid in in the home straight. He indicated that he felt the horse was looking for races over further distances and would take improvement from todays event. A post race veterinary failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Scandals Inconvenienced near the 1400m when the pace slowed. When questioned regarding the horse’s seemingly improved performance, trainer C. Allardyce stated that she was surprised that the gelding won, however she was expecting a forward showing as it was a step up to a suitable distance in today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.
