Brooker, rider of GAMBLING DOLL, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that near the 300m she permitted her mount to shift in when insufficiently clear of TAI CHI SPIRIT, which resulted in that horse being tightened onto the rail and having to be checked. Jockey Brooker was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight, 2 December and to expire at midnight, 14 December. Bell Stated that the gelding’s recent form has been inconsistent and feels that the gelding may be looking for a short spell. Stewards noted both explanations. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A swab sample was taken.

M. Morris was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted on entering the straight whereby he shifted his mount out, allowing runners to improve to his inside. Jockey Morris explained that after observing the first race he noticed that the winner raced three wide in a 9 metre position, therefore on entering the straight he elected to shift out into that position, which in his opinion has been beneficial to other runners in the past.
