Full Diamond Raced 5 wide without cover. When asked to explain the tactics employed on the horse, jockey R. Stewart indicated he had been instructed from the wide barrier to attempt to obtain cover. He stated that when steading his mount in the early stages the gelding commenced to overrace and he was unable to obtain a position closer to the fence with cover. He added that near the 800m, after overracing, he elected to try to improve to the lead, however the horse then did not have sufficient pace to improve around the horses to his inside. Potawatomi The start was significantly delayed when the horse proved difficult to load. Trainer A. Williamson was advised that a further barrier certificate will be required for the horse prior to its next race start. Slow to begin. Shifted out to obtain clear running after passing the 600m and made heavy contact with another runner and again shifted out approaching the home turn, making heavy contact with another runner. Zumikon Raced wide for the majority of the event. Apprentice N. Keal reported to Stewards that, after being hampered at the start, he attempted to obtain a trailing position in the early stages behind ONE GOLDEN DAY, however as SMASHED IT maintained a trailing position one off the fence behind ONE GOLDEN DAY, he was unable to obtain a position one off the fence. He added that he then attempted to restrain to a trailing position behind SMASHED IT however that runner shifted wider on the track whilst hanging out near the 800m which forced him wider on the track and as a result he was unable to obtain t Warwick 26/12/2017

Captain Parker The start of the race was delayed when the horse underwent a veterinary examination at the request of its rider. The examination revealed a small amount of blood in the horse’s mouth. However the gelding was cleared to take its place in the field. Sunshine Coast 05/01/2018
Muddy Rope Inspected by the veterinary surgeon at the request of the rider prior to the start and was cleared to take its place in the field. Blundered on jumping away. Raced three wide without cover. Inconvenienced by another runner near the 300m. Sunshine Coast 24/12/2017

In Akita R. Fradd reported at scale that his mount was exhibiting a cough post-race. The veterinary surgeon confirmed this and the advised that he had recommended to the trainer that the mare undergo an endoscopic examination prior to its next start. Trainer D. Cosgrove Jockey D. Browne reported to stewards that his mount overraced and laid in throughout the event, placing him at a disadvantage in the home straight. A post race veterinary examination found the horse to have lacerations in its mouth, particularly on the off side. Sunshine Coast 05/01/2018

Crying Cheetah Tightened for room and steadied on the home turn. Jockey Z. White reported that after jumping well, her mount overraced and refused to settle. Casino Gardens Stewards asked trainer T. Miller to comment on the horse’s seemingly improved performance. He indicated that he has been quite pleased with the horse’s performance since returning from a significant spell. He added that in his opinion the horse had been working well and it has been the intention to allow the horse to lead in its races and he believes that the horse races best when able to lead without being challenged as in today’s event. He further added that today’s soft track and the step up to a mile were also factors which may have contributed to today’s performance. Sunshine Coast 10/12/2017
