Henry's Affair Stewards questioned apprentice N. Keal regarding his riding of the horse, particularly in the early stages where it appeared the gelding lost touch with the remainder of the field. Apprentice Keal indicated he had been instructed to allow the horse to settle in the early stages because it has not raced favourably when ridden aggressively in the early stages. Those instructions were confirmed by trainer T. Thomas. After viewing the patrol footage with stewards, apprentice Keal stated in hindsight when the horse commenced to lose ground from the 800m he had been slow to react in placing fur Sunshine Coast 14/01/2018

Ultimate Reality Shifted in approaching the 800m despite the efforts of its rider. R. Stewart reported at scale that his mount never travelled well and in his view has come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a minor respiratory infection. Patronizing When being restrained passing the 800m to allow another runner to cross his mount, raced ungenerously with its head in the air for some distance. Stewards questioned apprentice jockey B. Thornton regarding his tactics after passing the 900m, which after having had a position on the fence in the lead, resulted in his horse being positioned 3 wide without cover passing the 600m. He indicated to stewards when BEAUDRAGON was improving to the lead he elected to steady and allow that horse to cross and it was his intention to shift out to settle outside that horse if possible, however when he rest Sunshine Coast 27/01/2018

Rhiatenn Road Jockey N. Tomizawa reported that he had intended to ride his mount with cover, however as WICKED TRILOGY shifted away from the fence leaving the 1300m it placed RHIATTEN ROAD in a 3 wide position, and at that point N. Tomizawa allowed his mount to stride forward to settle outside the leader. N. Tomizawa added that his mount travelled well from that point, however it was unable to sprint under its allotted 58 kilograms. He also stated that, in his opinion, the horse is not a good weight carrier. Toowoomba 13/01/2018

Dauphin de France Raced wide without cover. Jockey J. Lloyd was questioned regarding the tactics adopted on his mount. He indicated that despite drawing a wide alley he had been instructed to attempt to obtain a position one off the fence just behind the lead. In attempting to comply with those instructions he rode without committing to a forward or rearward position, and when in a 5-wide position passing the 1200m, pushed forward and raced 3 wide without cover. He advised stewards he had considered restraining to obtain cover at the rear of the field, however was of the view that given the pattern of racing Sunshine Coast 21/01/2018

Travistee Change of tactics. Connections advised if circumstances permit the horse would be ridden in a more forward position than its previous starts from the favourable barrier position today.
