Rdr std mount travelled well behind leaders, however when in clear running shortly after straightening failed to quicken before weakening over the final 100m. Added only explanation he could offer was that the gelding raced flat. Post-race vet exam - mucous in nostrils, no other abs. Trainer reported scope & bloods taken on return to stables revealed no abs, however a lung wash showed signs of bacterial infection, for which geld is now being treated. Vet clearance required PTNRS.

When questioned regarding the performance of the mare jockey stated that his mount led the event and travelled keenly in the early and middle stages. Rdr stated his mount sprinted fairly under it’s heavy weight impost in the straight. Rdr stated whilst he was not overly disappointed with his mounts performance it may be better suited racing with cover so as to provide it a better chance of finishing off its race.
