Du Plessis , rider of TOP SOCIETY, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that he allowed his mount to shift in to a point 3 wide when not sufficiently clear of GINGER ROCK, which was taken in on to the rightful running of CHEESE BURGER, which was forced on to the hind quarters of QIJI BELLEZZA, resulting in CHEESE BURGER having to be checked after leaving the 800m. Jockey Du Plessis was suspended from riding in races for a period of 10 days, to commence at midnight, 21 July and to expire at midnight, 31 July. Bumped

He indicated his mount began awkwardly and was unable to muster early pace despite his urgings. He then allowed the filly to settle for a short period at the 800m, however pressured it from that point and SPIRITUAL ROSE responded strongly and finished the race off well. He added stepping the filly up over longer distances would be beneficial, in his opinion.

Co-trn since advised he was satisfied with post-race condition of filly, however, it will now be transferred from his stable.

He added the filly has recently been required to obtain further barrier certificates due to being difficult to load, and, in his opinion, the extra jumpouts may have had a detrimental effect on the horse’s preparation. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

Tnr added he will endeavour to ride the filly quieter in an effort to have it finish off its race. P/R vet exam revealed mild symptoms of tying up. Filly has undergone a Caslick Procedure as trainer was of opinion filly was drawing wind behind.

Near the 1200m shifted wider on the track to improve to secure a position running second on the fence at a point passing the 1000m. A post race veterinary examination revealed the horse had an abrasion to the off-side hip consistent with having made contact with the barrier partition.
