Slow to begin. When quest re perf. rdr stated mounts action throughout the early stages was very short and he became concerned something was amiss throughout the middle stages. M. McGuren stated that he restrained his mount near the 500m, with the intent of restraining it from the event, however it did not come back to him as he expected a sore horse would and he again placed it under pressure at the entrance to the straight. Rdr stated mount just ground to the line under hands & heels pressure & its action did not improve. P/R vet exam no ab's.

She indicated the horse has drawn wide barriers at its 5 most recent starts, which has resulted in the horse being caught wide. Mrs Wrigley added they have attempted to start the horse over longer distances, however have been unable to obtain suitable races and as a result of this sent the horse for a short spell to be freshened up for today’s event, and after obtaining a good barrier draw Miss Wrigley indicated she had expected a forward showing in today’s event. Change of tactics. Connections advised that the gelding would be ridden in a more forward position if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly. Bumped on jumping away. When asked to explain the seemingly improved performance of the gelding, trainer J. Wilson advised that, in his opinion, the gelding has not appreciated the heavy tracks recently and with the good track today was of the opinion that this had an effect on its performance.
