Tarrant pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in that at a point approaching the winning post on the first occasion he allowed CLASSIC PEARL to shift in when not clear of BEST FOOT FORWARD, forcing that horse to shift in, tightening the running of PACIFIC CREST, resulting in jockey M. Hellyer having to take hold of that gelding and losing ground whilst clipping the heels of BEST FOOT FORWARD. Jockey Tarrant was suspended from riding in races for a period of 8 days, to commence at midnight, 9 November and to expire at midnight, 17 November.

Thompson, rider of OSCARS LOT, was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Continued to have difficulty securing clear running and near the 100m attempted a tight run between CLAIRVUE SPIRIT and GOLDEN LILY, however the horse was reluctant to improve into this run, became awkward at heels and went to the line without being fully tested.
