Sir Stephen  When questioned in regards to the performance of the gelding, jockey W. O'Connell advised stewards that the horse blundered rounding the home turn and became unbalanced and on straightening was reluctant to stride out and as a result he did not pressure the horse over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding failed to reveal any significant findings.
