When asked to comment on tactics adopted rider R Wiggins advised there were no set instructions other than allow the horse to settle where comfortable, adding that with the addition of blinkers and back in distance, COMMENTS settled in a forward position with cover. Trainer C Munce confirmed the instructions. Stewards noted the explanation of both R Wiggins and C Munce.

At a point approaching the 700m the saddle slipped and as a result did shift out abruptly making it difficult for the rider to maintain control despite her best efforts. Rider removed a foot from an iron at the 600m and then shortly after entering the straight in an effort to gain some control. Appr O'Donnell was unable to test her mount out fully to the line as a result.
