Red Kisses  Stewards questioned Jockey regarding his riding in the straight. He said that his mount was inclined to lay out throughout the event and proved difficult to ride. Stewards advised Jockey that in their opinion he had erred in not attempting to pull the whip through to his left hand in an effort to encourage the mare to race truly. Jockey was also reprimanded for raising his whip above shoulder height.

Hoywedge  When questioned regarding his riding, Jockey said that after beginning only fairly the mare settled in a rearward position, in accordance with its established racing pattern. He stated that after being held up to the inside of runners rounding the home turn, he elected to shift his mount to the outside of the field and did not obtain clear running until passing the 200 metres, where the mare finished strongly.

What's Your Secret  When questioned regarding the poor performance of the gelding Jockey explained that after being crossed near the 1300 metres, her mount never travelled comfortably and when placed under pressure rounding the home turn faied to respond. She added that in her opinion the gelding performs best when able to dictate terms in front. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be dehydrated. Trainer undertook to report back to the stewards in the days subsequent.
