He added that approaching the 600 metres his mount raced keenly and improved onto the heels of the eventual winner and shifted out, resulting in him then having to sustain a 4-wide run without cover from the 600 metres. Apprentice concurred with stewards that he would have been better served by attempting to remain racing on the back of the winner, rather than place too much effort on his mount, and improve from that point. |

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards considered objection lodged by the rider of the 3rd placed mare against the second placed mare alleging inference near the 800 metres. With respect of the objection 3rd v 2nd Stewards found that whilst the mare was bumped near the 800m when another runner shifted in, they weren't of the view that any interference suffered to the mare was significant enough to warrant a reversal of the placings and given proximity of this incident to the finish line, and the manner in which the race was run following the bump the objection was dismissed. |
