Jockey stated that rounding the home turn his mount failed to respond to pressure in any capacity and was very disappointing in its run to the line. A post race veterinary examination of the mare failed to reveal any abnormalities. |

When questioned regarding the disappointing performance Apprentice said instructions were to lead, as per established racing pattern. She said that after beginning well she was able to obtain the lead, and although another runner improved to her outside, the gelding travelled comfortably, however was disappointing from the 600 metres. Trainer advised that the gelding would not race beyond 1000 metres in future and would advise if any abnormalities were revealed in coming days. |

He said that the gelding may be better suited over longer distances. Trainer expressed disappointment with performance and said he would have blood taken from the gelding and undertook to forward the results to the stewards in the ensuing days. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer since reported that blood tests revealed no abnormalities and he would continue with prep. |
