Bumped with another runner soon after jumping. Near the 500 metres had to be restrained off heels. Inconvenienced approaching the home turn when awkwardly placed in restricted room between runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering minor pain to its back.

Slow into stride. Although the gelding raced in accordance with its usual racing pattern, when asked for an effort over the concluding stages failed to respond as expected. Jockey considered that the performance was disappointing. Trainer advised CLEAVER had also been disappointing at its most recent start, and it is now his intention to give the horse a short let-up prior to racing again.

On returning to scale the rider of CHECKOUT ME TRAVLA which finished 2nd, lodged an objection against ROYAL PHYSICIAN being declared the winner, alleging interference over the final 150m. After hearing evidence from all parties and viewing the official film, stewards established that ROYAL PHYSICIAN shifted out under pressure over the final 150m, dictating the line of CHECKOUT ME TRAVLA, forcing that runner much wider approaching the winning post. Bearing in mind the margin of a nose between those runners stewards upheld the objection and declared correct weight on the amended judge’s numbers.

Bumped at the start. When asked to explain its poor performance rider explained it was the gelding’s first run from a short let up and was of the opinion it would take benefit from todays run. Trainer whilst disappointed with today’s effort agreed with the rider’s assessment.
