She stated that the gelding overraced in the early stages in her opinion did not run out a strong 1400m and would be better suited to races over a shorter distance.

Brewing  Trainer questioned re. improved performance - stated that he was surprised that the mare was able to win today and could offer no reasonable explanation for the improved performance other than the horse was not suited on the tight turning track at Kilcoy at its most recent start. Mr. Sturgess also added that the horse did race well three starts ago at the Sunshine Coast when only beaten 3.3L over a similar distance to today's event.  Dalby  7/03/2015

Maughan  When questioned regarding the performance, rider stated that near 1200 metres the gelding was eased from heels and obtained a position one out from the running rail. She added that the gelding had raced only fairly at its previous start, was having its third start in 3 weeks and may not have been suited by the pace of the event. Trainer A. St Vincent reported that MAUGHAN would be freshened up following its performance on this day. He further stated that in the days following the event an abscess had come out on the off hind bulb for which it was receiving treatment.   Rockhampton  9/04/2015

Snowfink  Inquiry re if an opportunity to cross runners in the early stages. Rider stated she did not overly apply pressure early as she felt her mount did not have sufficient pace to cross and she raced 3 wide for the majority of the event. Apprentice Ljung subsequently agreed it would have been more advantageous if she pressured her mount more in the early stages, enablng her to cross the runners to her inside, giving her a better run throughout. However, as stewards did not feel her riding fell below the required standard, no further action was taken.
