We Built This City  Rider reported that the horse began well and therefore obtained a more forward position than at its first start in a race. He added that it travelled well, however when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond as he had anticipated and proved disappointing. Shifted out to improve near the 600m and then hung in and raced ungenerously when awkwardly placed on the heels of another runner. Hung out rounding the home turn. Emmadee  When questioned regarding the improved performance, trainer could offer no tangible explanation for the improvement. He indicated that the filly had been working well in the lead up to tonight's event, however there was no stable support for her. Il Padrone  Began awkwardly and lost ground. Raced wide from the 600m. Inquiry re tactics adopted. Apprentice J. Orman stated that his instructions were to be in a forward position, but after beginning awkwardly the runners to his outside had improved and crossed him and instead of improving forward and being caught wide, he elected to remain in a rearward position with cover. He added he was able to improve into the race from the 600m where the gelding finished the race off only fairly. He indicated that the gelding would be better suited to racing over distances further than that of today's event.   Ipswich  11/03/2016
