Bumped shortly after start became unbalanced for a short distance. Near 1600m steadied from heels. App. N Tomizawa reported that the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages. When questioned as to why he did not elect to improve into the race passing the 600m, App. Tomizawa stated that connections had been critical of his actions when he had ridden the gelding in that manner in the past. Trainer P Kings confirmed the comments of App. Tomizawa as the gelding had previously performed poorly when asked to make a long sustained run.

When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, rider stated that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited to races run over a further distance than tonight’s event, however he believed the gelding finished the race off well and would have finished in a better position had he been able to obtain clear running over the concluding stages.

Refused to jump and took no part in the event. Trainer B. Snelling was advised that he must obtain three (3) further barrier certificates for the horse prior to it racing again and that its nomination would be refused at TAB meetings. Mr Snelling indicated that the mare will now be spelled.

He added he has brought the horse along slowly in its current campaign on advice of his veterinary surgeon and now planned to step the horse up to races of a longer distance than that of today’s event. Stewards noted his comments.

A warning was placed against the horse's racing manners.
