Benico's Prince Bumped shortly after start became unbalanced for a short distance. Near 1600m steadied from heels. App. N Tomizawa reported that the gelding was not suited by the slow tempo in the early and middle stages. When questioned as to why he did not elect to improve into the race passing the 600m, App. Tomizawa stated that connections had been critical of his actions when he had ridden the gelding in that manner in the past. Trainer P Kings confirmed the comments of App. Tomizawa as the gelding had previously performed poorly when asked to make a long sustained run. Gold Coast 12/11/2016

Tin's Pocket Began awkwardly. Hung out rounding home turn and continued to do so in home straight placing its rider at a disadvantage. Raced wide without cover throughout. Gold Coast 24/12/2016
Viva La Proxy Bumped with another runner at the start. Held up from the 100m. When questioned regarding the horse’s disappointing performance, rider stated that in his opinion the gelding would be better suited to races run over a further distance than tonight’s event, however he believed the gelding finished the race off well and would have finished in a better position had he been able to obtain clear running over the concluding stages. Perfect Rainbow Refused to jump and took no part in the event. Trainer B. Snelling was advised that he must obtain three (3) further barrier certificates for the horse prior to it racing again and that its nomination would be refused at TAB meetings. Abitazar Commenced to buck shortly after the start and continued to do so for a considerable distance and took no competitive part in the event. Trainer L. Hatch was advised that the horse must perform satisfactorily in an official trial before being permitted to race again. Ipswich 06/01/2017
Counter Meal Slow to begin and eased when tightened between runners shortly after. Murwillumbah 27/12/2016
Listanera Steadied to avoid heels near the 900m and lost ground and then laid out during the middle stages. Warwick 26/12/2016

Race 3
Astro Avalanche After leading for the majority of the event, compounded in the home straight and finished a distant last. When questioned regarding the performance, trainer B. Snelling stated the gelding has only had a couple of runs back from a long lay off. He added he has brought the horse along slowly in its current campaign on advice of his veterinary surgeon and now planned to step the horse up to races of a longer distance than that of today’s event. Ateaces Steadied near the 300m when placed in restricted room. Toowoomba 31/12/2016
Dakota Rocks Steadied and brushed the running rail near the 1000m when another runner shifted in when not fully clear. Toowoomba 17/12/2016

Golden Depart Was forced wider on the track by another runner rounding the home turn. Toowoomba 07/01/2017
Real Mystique Near the 1100m had to be steadied away from the heels of GOLD DENARI when laying out. Held up for a short distance upon entering the home straight and was obliged to shift back to the inside to obtain clear running. A short distance later, when laying out, had to be steadied from the heels of LADY CAROLYN. Inclined to hang out for the majority of the home straight. Ironborn On returning to scale apprentice E. Ljung reported that after being bumped heavily near the 900m her mount never travelled comfortably from that point and had a tendency to hang out. She added that when placed under pressure in the home straight the gelding failed to respond as she had anticipated. Toowoomba 31/12/2016
Gully Gosh Tightened for room upon jumping and lost ground. Apprentice N. Keal reported that after losing ground at the start the horse resented the kick back and did not travel comfortably at any stage of the event. A post- race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Taroom 31/12/2016
Lontana Dipped on jumping. Raced wide throughout without cover. Laid out during the middle stages. Toowoomba 17/12/2016

The Knick After being bumped by LIBERTY JANE approaching the 400m, became unbalanced and lost considerable ground. In considering the matter, Stewards were of the opinion that THE KNICK had overreacted to the incident and that its racing manners were major contributing factors to the horse losing ground.
