Big Sonny Rider afforded opportunity to comment on performance - stated gelding was under pressure leaving 600m and was disappointing in its finishing effort. Marauding's Girl Weakened over the concluding stages. When questioned, jockey S. Apthorpe stated that while he had to work hard in the early stages to maintain his position on the rail, he expected the mare to finish off the race more strongly than she did.
