Raced wide without cover throughout. App. J Guthmann-Chester questd. why settled in wide position appeared to be opportunity to obtain position with cover early stages. Stated after travelling short distance was of view that Jockey Mallyon was looking for position with cover on fence. Therefore would have shifted over to race outside MIA’S GOT CLASS. Did not eventuate and when MIA’S GOT CLASS stayed racing 3 wide he was caught 4 wide. Further in hindsight and after watching films agreed with Stewards would have been better option to have restrained take up position with cover.

Had to be steadied near the 1200m, losing ground. Stewards inquired into the incident, evidence was taken from the riders in the vicinity and it was established that HOL’S SPRINGSTEEN shifted in and away from GOOD CATCH, which shifted in slightly away from MALCRIADO, which was racing in a 4 wide position at that stage. As stewards were not satisfied that the incident was a result of carelessness by any one of the riders, no action was taken.
