Jockey S. Bogenhuber could offer no explanation for the seemingly disappointing performance of the gelding which failed to respond to her riding when placed under pressure from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be experiencing a poor post-race recovery and an irregular heartbeat. Stewards advised Trainer J. Capewell that, prior to racing again, the gelding will be required to barrier trial to the satisfaction of Stewards, and subsequently produce a veterinary certificate for the gelding, including the results of an ECG.

Shortly after when the pace slackened, commenced to over-race and then had to shift wider to avoid the heels of DYNASTIC. The mare then raced 3 wide without cover for the remainder. FORTUNE STAR which was following NORTHERN REVENGE at the same point also had to be steadied away from heels.
