After being slow to begin, attempted to obtain a forward position closer to the rail but was unable to do so and was forced to race three wide without cover for the entirety of the event. When questioned regarding the horses performance, trainer K. Kemp, after viewing the video, agreed that the gelding had a hard run being caught wide without cover, noting that it was up in class for todays event and after also noting that it may have come to the end of its campaign stated that he was not overly disappointed with todays effort. He added that he would assess the geldings post-race recovery.

Stewards questioned trainer Mr. L. Fraser in relation to the winning performance of the gelding which was heavily backed in this event. Mr. Fraser advised that the horse had performed well at its last start at Dalby, and he was shocked the horse was such a wide price in early markets. Mr. Fraser added that he had expected a forward showing from the gelding based on its most recent start, and advised Stewards that he had placed a wager on the horse to be successful tonight. Stewards noted the explanation.

Commenced to weaken from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse had bled from both nostrils. As this was the first occasion on which the horse has bled it will be ineligible to race for 3 months, and before resuming racing it must perform satisfactorily in a 1000m gallop in the presence of a steward.
