Stewards noted that gelding was having its second start for the stable and would expect it to be ridden in a similar manner in future events.

Slow into stride before mustering speed shortly thereafter. Overraced in the early stages. When questioned regarding the performance of ZAFOX, jockey J. Lloyd stated that after beginning only fairly the horse improved rapidly before being cluttered between runners. He added that the tempo of the race did not suit the gelding and then when asked to improve leaving the 500m he felt ZAFOX was flat-footed and failed to quicken. Jockey Lloyd also added that it was his intention to try to lead but after the poor beginning was obliged to settle behind runners.
