Toowoomba Preview 16 July 2017

With the Sunshine Coast having raced on Saturday, it’s a rare Sunday away from Corbould Park. The Toowoomba Turf Club will fill in and host a seven race program. The track is rated a Soft 7 with the rail in the true position.

Race 1

Bella Occhi (8) is on debut for trainer Ben Currie. She has not been seen publicly but there is no doubt this stable will have her ready to go. She is drawn to get a great run. Nonchalante (3) has been racing in good form this preparation. He ran on well for a narrow third at Ipswich last start but should have finished closer. Inde Roar (13) improved last start when run down late over 1210m here last start. The drop in distance will suit and could prove hard to run down. Miss Drumbeats (4) is on debut and has not been seen at the trials. Drawing barrier 1 is a major boost to her chances.

Race 2

Mishani Seeka (4) has finished second in both her career starts. She was run down late last start at the Gold Coast over 1100m so the drop back to 1000m suits. While she has drawn wide she has the necessary early speed to find a prominent spot. Catchulata (12) has improved with racing. She should enjoy a nice run just off the speed. Lion Coming (8) finished a half-length third at Ipswich on debut over 800m. He will be fitter second up. Lovebeat (2) is on debut. Drawn to get a great run and this stable need to be respected on their home track.

Race 3

Stick With Me (5) resumed following a short spell with a second placing to the very good Saipan over this distance last start in a stronger class. She will get back but will be finding the line strongly. One Golden Day (2) resumes for Ben Currie. While his best form is over further, he can show up here fresh. Whatever Miss (6) is a short course specialist who hasn’t been far away in recent races. She is drawn to be prominent. Tin’s Pocket (1) is a speedy type who has won two of his past four starts.

Race 4

Tactician (5) has placed in all four starts this preparation in stronger races. He returns to his home track where he has a great record. Mishani Shiraz (9) won here in good style last start over 1110m. She rises in class but looks set to go on with it. National Trail (1) resumes here. He has a great record at the track and should enjoy a nice run just off the speed.  Johnny Be Quick (2) has finished second at his two most recent starts. He drops in distance but could be too strong late.

Race 5

Real Mystique (5) finished off well for a narrow win at Rockhampton last start over 1600m. She returns to her home track where she has won two of three starts over this distance. Trump It (4) was very good when finishing second to Chief Joseph here last start in this class over this course and distance. He is a slow beginner so he’ll settle back but he’ll be finding the line strongly. Haradify (3) finished just behind Trump It here last start. He doesn’t win out of turn but does have a very good record over this course and distance. Unique Mystique (2) has struggled recently but gets the blinkers back on which might tune him up for this race.

Race 6

Last Armageddon (3) resumes here following a very good debut win. There looks to be a decent amount of speed in the race, which will allow Brad Stewart to settle just off it before finding the line strongly. Mr Marbellouz (2) led all the way to record a seven length win when on debut here. He will race on the speed from barrier two. Captain’s Angel (10) was run down late in the race when finishing third at Rockhampton last start. She is drawn to get a great run here. Orleans (1) resumes here after previously racing for Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. He defeated Invincible Gem on debut who is a Group 1 placegetter. He may need the run after such a long break.

Race 7

Bourbon Road (2) hasn’t been too far away in each of his five starts this preparation. He will find this easier than those races. From barrier two, Alannah Fancourt will be able to race in a prominent position. Burning Mountain (1) will appreciate rising in distance after running on well over 1100m last start for third. He has a good record over this course and distance but the wide barrier may pose problems. Ra Ra Epic (4) had to do too much work last start and faded over 1625m. The drop back to a distance she won at two starts ago suits. Novative (3) resumes here and will be better over further. Having said that, he will be getting home well.
