The Cairns Jockey Club host a seven race program this Tuesday. The track is rated a Soft 5 as of Monday but with fine weather and a top temperature of 28 degrees Celsius forecast on Tuesday, an upgrade looks likely. The rail is in the true position.
Cocco Lucia (5) drops back to a more suitable distance after failing over 1560m last start. Her previous two starts this preparation were quite good against stronger opposition than this. Rogue Alley (3) has been in the placings her past three starts but has been quite a distance off the winner. She should be well placed in the run. Poise ‘N’ Style (6) will be fitter for his first up effort where he raced wide. He should enjoy a much better run here from the better barrier. Negroni (1) has been solid in three runs since coming from New South Wales. He gets his chance in what isn’t a strong race.
Mason’s Chance (1) has finished in the placings in four of his six career starts. His recent form includes a second to Witness and a close fourth to Craiglea Ghetto. A repeat of those efforts will see him go close here. Love Red (3) resumed in good style with a second placing here over this distance. He has raced well second up in the past but will need to overcome the wide gate. My Friend Rob (4) can be forgiven for his failure last start after enduring a tough run. His previous form was quite good particularly over this course and distance. Lady Of Darkness (11) resumes for a new stable after previously racing in Victoria. She raced over much further last preparation so may find these a touch nippy but could run on for a place.
Golden Bank (5) has been in good form this preparation with two wins from four starts. He fought on quite well in a strong three-year-old race last start for fourth. While he has drawn wide, he has the necessary early speed to find a prominent position. One For The Money (1) won by a big margin at a Non-TAB meeting last start. His form prior to that was solid in this standard of race. He will need some luck from the wide barrier. Jay Venture (11) resumes here. Fresh record suggests she may need the run but her most recent races where she placed behind some good horses suggests she can feature here. Pub Thug (9) has been around the mark in recent Non-TAB races. This is harder but he is drawn to get a great run and apprentice’s claim helps.
Royal Supreme (9) resumes for new trainer Roy Chillemi after previously racing in Perth. While he will be better over further, he is a consistent metropolitan performer and may just have too much class for these. Robbers Roost (2) resumed with a good win at Laura. While that was Non-TAB meeting, he has won two of five starts over this course and distance. Chamarel (7) ran well for third at a Non-Tab meeting last start. Can mix his form but if he is right then can feature here. Vaunting (11) ran on well when resuming. He will be fitter and has won second up before.
Nadeem Esprit (5) resumed with a close third over 900m at a Non-TAB meeting. He won his only previous second up start and did look a horse with some ability last preparation. Gravettian (8) improved last start when running on for second at Townsville. He should get a great run from the inside gate. Bush Version (6) finished a close third here in this class two starts back and a repeat of that effort would see him competitive in this race. Man Of Business (10) has won his past two starts at Non-TAB meetings. This is harder but he should be prominent in the run.
Bobcat (1) went forward and was never headed when winning by 2.8 lengths over 1400m at Townsville last start. From barrier two, he will prominent in the run. Mukaddamah Son (4) resumes here for Trevor Rowe after previously racing in Brisbane. He has a very good record over this distance and races well fresh. Cleansing Ale (3) will find this much easier than what he has been contesting lately. Element Of Chance (9) won well when resuming at Townsville over 1200m. The extra distance will suit but the wide barrier is a concern.
Standford (5) won at Oak Park last start over 1600m defeating a number of horses he meets here. Three starts back he finished second over this course and distance. He is drawn to enjoy a good run. Master Avatar (1) has plenty of weight to contend with but warrants it after performing well in a much stronger race last start. The rise in distance suits and he could prove hard to run down. Awesome Sight (8) has had a form reversal with two recent seconds. The extra distance should suit. Gainsford (7) disappointed last start but had been racing in good form in this class of race prior to that.
