Friday 1 September 2017- Race 1
 
Jockey A Coome was fined $100 for being overweight on DE LOSKO.
 
Race 1: Brooklands/ Fred Brophy Maiden Plate - 1200 metres
 
OTTIS- Dwelt on jumping.
 
MY FRIEND RILEY- Slow to begin. Rider reported that in the straight his mount was inclined to lay inwards under pressure.
 
TSAVOURITE- Raced wide throughout.
 
SEAFORE- Jumped out.
 
PLAYBOOK- Taken outwards at the start by another runner. Jockey R Faehr was fined $200 for use of his whip on more than 5 occasions prior to the 100 metres (AR 137A 5a(ii)). Stewards took into account the totality of his whip use and that he had been reminded of his whip previously.
 
Race 2: Birdsville Fuel Service BM 55 Handicap- 800 metres
 
TILLYYS GIRL- Declared a late scratching at 10.30am on veterinary advice.
 
AMBERRS GIRL- Apprentice D Graham was fined $100 for failing to claim her full allowance. AR 92(12)
 
ALBERT THE ROCKET- Slow into stride.
OUR HUSSLER- Stood flat-footed, lost considerable ground and took no competitive part in the race. Trainer was advised that a further barrier certificate must be obtained prior to its next race start.
 
Stewards inquired into an incident that occurred shortly after the start of this race. Evidence was taken from Jockey D Ballard (CRACK A COLDIE), App D Graham (AMBERRS GIRL), Jockey J Keating (VALDERON) and Jockey G Geran (PAYBACK). It was established that shortly after the start, PAYBACK commenced to lay out and as a result, took AMBERRS GIRL out onto VALDERON and caused CRACK A COLDIE to be taken out across the heels of GEE JAY. Stewards acknowledged that Jockey Geran had attempted to correct his mount and it had taken a number of strides for the horse to respond. Stewards did not consider this incident to be a result of careless riding and took no further action.
 
Race 3: Road Tech Marine QTIS Class 2 Handicap- 1200 metres
 
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey J Hoopert and connections of SUPERCHIC viewed the patrol film to ascertain if any grounds existed to lodge an objection. After doing so, no objection was lodged and correct weight was declared.
 
GALEA WARRIOR- A little slow to begin. Near the 300 metres, lay in.
 
SUPERCHIC- Near the 300 metres, raced in restricted room between GALEA WARRIOR and SPUR WITH EASE and shifted out from between these runners.
 
TAUGHT BY THE BEST- When questioned with regard to the performance, rider reported that the mare had travelled well throughout, however had resented the kick back in the straight and had failed to run on. A post-race veterinary inspection did not reveal any abnormalities.
 
Race 4: The Innamincka Hotel BM 70 Handicap- 1000 metres
 
No racing incidents.
 
Race 5: Landmark/ CGU Class 5 Handicap- 1200 metres
 
Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Jockey A Butler viewed the photo finish image for first and was satisfied as to the judgees placings.
 
HOW BIGGS THE HOLE- Hung out in the early stages and lost ground.
 
ROTHSTEIN- Jumped out onto other runners. Raced wide throughout.
 
ONEHUNDREDCLICKS- Hampered when another runner jumped out at the start. Raced wide throughout.
 
SPARKLING VIXEN- Hampered when another runner jumped out at the start.
 
SPECTACULAR ROCK- Jumped out on another runner.
 
LASTING IMAGE- Hampered when SPECTACLUAR ROCK jumped out.
 
 
Race 6: Outback Queenslandds Birdsville Cup Open Handicap- 1600 metres
 
 
Any bets prior to 7,45am on Saturday morning would be subject to the deductions of 7 cents the Win and 9 cents place (REFUSTRESS)
 
FAST FELLA- Jockey A Coome was fined $200 for being 1 kilogram overweight (AR 120(b)).
 
EYE OF WORLD- Tightened between runners at the start.
 
REASSIGNMENT- Jumped out and tightened another runner.
 
Race 7: Lyndhurst Stud BM 65 Handicap- 1400 metres
 
SHOW US A SMILE- Slow to begin.
 
SANKARA SPIRIT- Jockey A Coome will be reminded of permissible whip use prior to the 100 metres. Stewards took in account the totality of his whip use
 
WULFWIN- Rider reported that after beginning awkwardly, the gelding never felt comfortable on the racing surface and proved disappointing.
