Race 1:  BM 65 Handicap- 1300 metres
 
Jockey L Attard pleaded guilty to a charge under AR 175 (q) of improper conduct in that he attempted to deceive the Clerk of Scales by weighing out for Race 1 BLAZE TO FORTUNE without a saddle. After consideration of his honesty, guilty plea and circumstances, both professional and personal, which led to this breach, Stewards imposed a fine of $500.
 
BLAZE TO FORTUNE- Slow to begin. Failed to muster speed in the early and middle stages when placed under pressure.
 
INACTION- Slow into stride.
 
Following, Race 1 Jockey L Attard advised Stewards he would not be able to continue riding due to the need to take on fluids. Stewards sought replacements as per the Summary.
 
Race 2:   C. H. R. C Class B Handicap 1200 metres
 
SONIC BOOMER- Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
HARRY MET SANDY- In the early stages, raced wide on the track. When questioned, Jockey K Aho stated that when racing wide she was able to race on the compacted surface, however when shifted in towards the field, the horse did not race well on the softer surface and failed to travel well.
 
Race 3: Blackwater Hotel Motel QTIS Maiden Plate- 950 metres

ELDIYM- Saddle slipped and bucked in its preliminary, dislodged the rider and galloped riderless. Underwent a veterinary inspection and cleared to take its place in the field. Delay to the start when required re-saddling. Taken out at the start by another runner. Lay in behind another horse from approximately the 200 metres.
 
REFINED EXCITEMENT- Jumped in onto ELDIYM. Rider reported that horse failed to handle dirt surface in the early stages and was shifted wider on the track from the 800 metres, made up significant ground in the straight.
 
SUDDENLY SPICE- Slow to begin.
 
DANYSUS- Slow to begin.
 
Race 4: BM 55 Handicap- 950 metres
 
AND JUBILATIONS- Raced wide in the early stages.
 
DUAN THEO- Tightened shortly after the start and lost some ground. Rider viewed photo for first and was satisfied as to the judge’s placings.
 
Race 5: Bluff Newmarket Open Handicap- 950 metres
 
ME AND YOU- Due to no other available rider, Jockey M Barham was permitted to rider 1 1/2kg. Taking into account the circumstances, Jockey Barnham was fined $100.
 
OSSENHAGEN- Rider reported the horse was not suited by the shorter distance or the dirt racing surface.
 
FRAHA- Hung out from the 400 metres to the 300 metres, taking another runner wider on the track.
