GENERAL: Jockey Ms T. Tincknell was indisposed due to medical reasons; rider changes were made as per the stewards race day summary. Ms Tincknell will be advised that a medical certificate is required prior to riding again.
Due to todayys high temperature forecast this meeting was conducted under the provisions of the Racing Queensland Level 2 Heat Policy.

RACE 1: CQ Field Mining Services Maiden Plate 1000m

ELDRICK > Was a late scratching at 09:30am as no rider was available.
SUNNY SCENE Shifted inwards on jumping and bumped with another runner. Over-raced in the early stages. Jockey T. Hill advised that the mare resented the kickback in-running.
JUST PRETENDS Bumped by another running on jumping. Raced wide in the middle stages.
SCIOLTA Wide for the majority.
THE MARSHALL Raced greenly throughout.
RACE 2: Joe & Pauline Bakhash Memorial Class 6 Plate 1000m

OUR HUSSLER Reared as the start was effected and was slowly away as a result. Lost further ground when crowded between runners shortly after the start.
DOWNNS RIDGE Fractious in the barriers. Hung in in the early stages. Commenced to give ground in the middle stages despite the urgings of Jockey J. Babarovich.
MURRUMBIDGEE Wide for the majority.
RACE 3: Sparrow Harrison Snr. Memorial QTIS BM55 Handicap 1000m

Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight to allow connections of TEMPESTA ROSSA the opportunity to view the photo finish. When both connections and Stewards were satisfied with the judges placings, correct weight was given.
SPARKLING VIXEN Slow to begin.
MY CRIMSON LAD Slow to begin.
TEMPESTA ROSSA Slow to begin.
DO I HAVE TO Slow to begin.
MARINE ON PARADE Slow to begin. Wide for the majority.
CHAT TIME > When questioned on the performance of the mare Jockey D. Ballard stated that despite being fractious in the barriers the mare began well but was inclined to over-race in the early stages.
RACE 4: Brodie Hardware Cloncurry Cup Open Handicap 1400m

TRAVEL IN STYLE Shifted in at the start and bumped another runner. Jockey D. Ballard advised that due to the early strong pace he was unable to assume a position near the lead and was caught wide in the middle stages.
HEES A MAGICIAN Was slow into stride after being bumped by another runner at the start. Raced wide rounding the home turn. Both Jockey K. Ballard and Trainer D. Finter were at a loss to explain the geldings poor performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
NIGHT WOLF Jockey T. Hill advised stewards that he was disappointed for a run when attempting to improve near the 800m. Was reluctant to improve between runners near the 100m.
HOLEY GADOLEY Shifted ground over the concluding stages when placed under pressure.
RACE 5: Mort & Co Livestock/Chinova Resources Class 3 Plate 1400m

GRANDZONE ROCKET Was a late scratching on veterinary advice at 03:57pm after displaying lameness in the off fore leg. Prior to the declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered that all monies invested on GRANDZONEROCKET be refunded in full and further, that all successful wagers placed prior to 03:57pm be subject to deductions of 20c in the dollar win and 21c in the dollar place on the face value of the betting ticket. Trainer J. Bawden will be advised that the gelding will require a veterinary clearance prior to its next start.
ROCK SPARK Crowded between runners at the start and lost ground.
LOGANNS RUN Slow to begin.
STEERING Was eased out of the raced at the 1000m. A subsequent veterinary examination revealed the gelding had sustained an injury to the near fore sesamoid and was humanely euthanased.
RUBIDUS Jockey S. Mossman advised stewards that although he was given no specific instructions he elected to allow the gelding to stride forward after beginning well. He further stated that he was content to allow the gelding to stride freely in the lead which it maintained throughout.
