Race 1: Sky Thoroughbred Central QTIS 2YO H’Cap – 1350m
NIVO – Checked near the 1000m. Held up and had to be steadied to avoid heels near the 400m. Jockey N. Tomizawa the rider of BOLTIN’ DESIRE pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under AR137(a) in that for some distance approaching the 1000m he shifted his horse in resulting in it making contact with NIVO on a number of occasions before it was checked near the 1000m off the heels of EMINENT. Jockey Tomizawa was suspended from riding in races for a period of eleven (11) days to commence midnight 25 March 2017 and expire midnight 5 April 2017.
Race 2: Mirvac Ascot Green Maiden H’Cap – 1350m
MADAM AMAROUGE – Sustained a small laceration over the left eye, examined by the veterinary surgeon and cleared to race. Bumped very heavily near the 1300m.
QUEEN CORA – Began very awkwardly and lost ground.
SANCTUARY COVE – Bumped on straightening and again near the 300m. Cast a near fore plate in running.
MANDAROSSO – A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered a bleeding attack during the event. As this was the second occasion the gelding had bled trainer P. Duff was advised it will incur a mandatory lifetime ban from racing.
Race 3: Blokes Day Out Maiden Plate – 1650m
MONTANA PINES – Jockey J. Byrne reported after the event that his mount did not handle the conditions at any stage of the event.
Race 4: Veuve Society Membership Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1200m
LUCKY SHOW GIRL was declared a late scratching at 11.45 a.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.
HIDDEN ROSE – Slow into stride.
RICH AFFAIR – Dipped on a number of occasions throughout the event.
Following the event App M. McGillivray approached stewards expressing his concerns with the track conditions, particularly as his horse dipped on numerous occasions throughout the event. App McGillivray therefore applied to be relieved of his remaining engagements in races 6 and 8. In the circumstances stewards acceded to his request.
Race 5: Gallopers Sports Club Class 2 H’Cap – 1650m
SHE GOES POP – Slow into stride.
MORALTO – Slow into stride.
Race 6: Events At BRC Ratings Band 0-70 H’Cap – 1650m
No racing incidents.
Race 7: Hamilton Hotel Class 3 H’Cap – 1350m
INTERLUDE – Slow into stride.
MIA SORELLA – Overraced in the early and middle stages.
Race 8: Giddy Up Club Class 2 H’Cap – 1050m
WELL SIGHTED was declared a late scratching at 10.03 a.m. by order of stewards acting on veterinary advice.
KAPSTAR – Overraced passing the 800m.
TOECANARGIE MAN – Cast a near hind plate in running.
