From Doomben 18.1.17 – Race 5: Apprentice E. Apprentice Ljung’s licence to ride in races was suspended for 11 days, to commence at midnight on Sunday 29 January and expire at midnight on Thursday 9 February 2017. After viewing the stewards’ patrol footage, apprentice T. Brooker, the rider of SHOREHAM, placed 3rd by the Judge, lodged an objection against YOHO (T. Harrison) being declared 2nd, alleging interference between the 200m and the 100m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the videos stewards found that although YOHO did shift ground on two occasions between the 200m and the 100m, slightly inconveniencing SHOREHAM, they did not believe that on both occasions it was sufficient to warrant a reversal of placings, bearing in mind also the margin of a long head separating both runners at the finish, and therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the numbers semaphored.

SHOREHAM – Hampered shortly after the start. Commenced to pull hard approaching the 1200m and had to be checked away from heels.
